Introduction

Simple and effective self-defence techniques that will boost your confidence in daily life. The course covers a range of physical techniques for use in different scenarios, as well as advising on danger-awareness and developing a positive and assertive mental attitude in self-defence.

What is Self Defence for Women?

This is a course of instruction that aims to cover some of the critical aspects of keeping yourself as safe as possible from acts of violence. The course covers:

The course is mostly practical with theory delivered during the active class. The techniques that are taught cover several scenarios but the main emphasis of training is to develop awareness, speed of reaction and positive mentality in self-defence which all too frequently is lost during the stress and speed of a physical attack.

This class will teach you that you do have options in the face of a surprise attack, and will show you what they are and how to utilise them.

During the course, students will have the opportunity to raise any particular issue or scenario for discussion and practice in a free forum. In this way, the course offers a certain flexibility of content, tailored to the student.

Class Information

Self-defence classes are generally 1-hour-15-minutes in duration for the 4-week course. The 1-day course is 4.5 hours in duration with short breaks.

Clothing should be loose-fitting and stretchable, for example tracksuit bottoms and long-sleeved shirt. No T-shirts or shorts because you may get friction burns from some of the pad work if your elbows and knees are not covered. No footwear is required but if you do wear shoes, plimsolls or flat trainers are best - running shoes, bulky footwear or outdoor shoes should not be worn.

Remember to bring a bottle of water!

Courses run regularly at The Factory Fitness and Dance Centre N19 but can also be held at Lyonsdown Hall EN5 or at a client site by arrangement.
